Welcome to CHS Boxing Club
The History
The building on the corner of King Street and Simmons Street was originally constructed as a fire station in 1933. In the 1980s, the city turned the building over to Al “Hollywood” Meggett to start his training program. Hollywood first opened the doors to the King Street gym in 1983.

Hollywood used the opportunity to engage and embrace inner-city youth, giving them a safe space to maximize their athletic abilities, motivate greatness, and teach meaningful life skills. Through his passion for boxing, he's impacted the lives of many youth far beyond the sport of Boxing.

Mission
"To teach youth discipline, hard work, commitment and sportsmanship through the sport of boxing."

In addition to the mission, the Club adheres to the standards of USA Boxing and the South Carolina Boxing commission.
